Greetings! I am Caryn Lazar Amster. I am the author of the award winning book on Chicago’s South Side in the 1950’s and 60’s The Pied Piper of South Shore, Toys and Tragedy in Chicago. I am also your blog-master.

I hope this blog will help our existing newsletter gang who grew up on Chicago’s South Side in the 1950’s and 60’s find each other. I encourage you – write in with your memories, sign up for the free monthly email newsletter and buy the book. All these will help reconnect you with South Side memories. Enjoy. This blog is really you… all of you. Send your memories, stories and information about former friends and classmates.

I have the right to edit all posts.

Well, I should have scanned your website more carefully before I wrote my first note, duh! I remember your sister, Marta, Faulkner ’68, as well as your parents. I still have a doll rocking chair that I bought from your parents’ toy store.

    Hi
I am organizing a reunion from Coles Elementary class of 1968. So many of us left the south side that year and lost touch with many childhood friends and with that many stories and expeeriences. If anyone out there graduated that year and would like to be included on our mailing list and reunion plans please respond to this email address. colesreunion68@yahoo.com
    Thanks
    Debbie Kraft
